LITR TALK BACK BLOG May 10, 2008
What is RSS Feeds and how can it help with my LITR radio show? Most popular sites provide RSS feeds these days... especially news-related sites. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary. It's an XML-based format for distributing your radio show, blogs, press releases, news, headlines, content, etc. All you need is a tool called a feed reader then you can download feeds from any site that offers the RSS. Feed readers come in various configurations If you use the Firefox web browser, there is already one built in. Google, Yahoo and Windows Live all have RSS feed applications as well. If you are already using a blog or considering on starting one then use the RSS feed BlogExpress features. If you haven't thought about it yet, using RSS feeds for your LITR radio show and website will allow you to drive more traffic on a regualr basis to your sites. At VoiceAmerica we use RSS feeds for all our hosts along with a proprietary downloadable and branded desktop icon to connect with your audience. Think about the potential of additional traffic when someone has opened their RSS reader to receive the updates for all the sites they monitor they'll also see your site's updates as well. This is even better than bookmarking, because it keeps your info front and center everytime they open the RSS reader. Many business that use newletters are also adding RSS distribuition because it avoids the issue of SPAM filters. Instead of having sometimes as much as 50% or more email stuffed into a Junk Mail folder and never read, the prospect is alerted that you have something of interest to them. Next week we'll talk more about how to export and create RSS feeds for your new and loyal patrons. Talk Back at you later! Stephan www.linkedin.com/in/liveinternettalk
