LITR TALK BACK BLOG April 12, 2008
How do I drive traffic to my radio sJenny F. Green Bay, WI This is a great question and to answer it effectively we need to talk about when as well as frequency. The method LITR suggests to new hosts is to use an ASK campaign. An ASK campaign is a simple process of enrolling your listeners in the show itself. You do this by emailing or calling everyone on your contact list to request that they submit show ideas. These ideas might be concepts, issues, problems they are looking to solve, experiences they have had with a particular product or service, or comments they may want to make on the subject matter. Encourage them to email you now and when you have your call in line phone number. Also at this time you want to promote your show date and time along with the appropriate links, email addresses, and how they can log on and listen LIVE or from the archives. This is also a good time to request additional email addresses,(3-5 referrals) and to run concurrently a promotion to encourage people to become part of your community. Providing a FREE download of an ebook or MP3 file pertaining to your business is a simple and easy reward for their participation Ask your webmaster to have this set-up automatically so when they submit additional email addresses they are added to your email database and then the system sends out a thank you and completes the fullfillment. Since LITR uses a 6-8 week pre-launch period to develop all the show collaterals, this would be the ideal time to start your ASK campaign during this period. As for frequency, remember that it takes a minimum of 6-10 times of reading, viewing, interacting with your communication before someone acts on it. Take this in account when you set up and operate your campaign to ensure your reader receives it 6-10 times prior to your show actually starting. Matter of fact I encourage you to contiune the process through the first couple of weeks to really make this effective. When you run your ASK campaign make sure it is not buried in your newsletter, ecard mailing or other regular communique that you have with your database. Make this a separate stand alone piece.
